On Friday 23 January, the Advanced Neurotherapies Centre (ANTC) was visited by Stephen Doughty, Welsh Labour and Co-operative Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Cardiff South and Penarth. He represents a diverse constituency across south Cardiff and Penarth in the UK House of Commons.
The Advanced Neurotherapies Centre team showed Stephen Doughty around the Advanced Neurotherapies Centre Neuro Theatres at the University Hospital Wales and explained the work of the centre from the research to the clinical trials. The team showed Stephen Doughty the MRI scanner and explained how the technicians, clinical team, and neurosurgeon Professor Liam Gray use the MRI scans to map where they will safely and effectively deliver the Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) to the brain.
In a video after his visit, Stephen Doughty said,
‘I’ve been hugely impressed by the work I’ve seen here. It’s really inspiring, collaborative, and the very best of what Cardiff, and Wales, offer in Biomedical Sciences.’
Our Director Professor Liam Gray said:
‘It was a pleasure to welcome Stephen Doughty to the Advanced Neurotherapies Centre. It was a great opportunity to showcase our facilities, meet with members of our team, and talk about our work and ambitions for the future.’
