BRAIN Involve

Bringing together patients, carers and academics to shape cutting-edge research into neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.

At BRAIN we believe that active involvement from members of the public leads to research that is more relevant, more reliable and more likely to be used to improve health and social care services. If you are interested in playing a role in shaping our work, you can become a member of our BRAIN Involve community.

What is BRAIN Involve?

BRAIN Involve is the public and patient involvement group that helps to inform our research activities. It is made up of people who are, or have been, affected by neurological diseases such as Epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

What would I have to do?

As a member of BRAIN Involve you would be asked to take part in core BRAIN Unit activities. This could include attending meetings with the BRAIN Unit team or helping to organise, chair and attend meetings with other BRAIN Involve members. The BRAIN administrative team would provide you with support to do this.

Being a member of BRAIN Involve is not about taking part in research but about using your experiences to help inform and develop research ideas and projects that are relevant to you. There are lots of ways you can contribute to research within BRAIN:

  • Attending BRAIN research events
  • Reviewing research grants
  • Reviewing research study materials, leaflets
  • Writing research grants
  • Developing, contributing to and attending events where we disseminate our findings
